Today we did a Get-to-Know-You activity wherein everyone circles up and gets a turn being the star for a few seconds. The person who is "it" says his name and performs an action to go along with it. The person next in the circle performs the same action and says the person's name. And so it goes all around the circle with everyone repeating the name and action of one student before the next gets a turn. I paddled my kayak and said, "Mixson!"
It can be quite empowering for an 11-year-old to make all of his peers says his name and do any action he wishes. So, imagine my surprise when Jordan did a front handspring and said, "JORDAN!"
